Getting Started with twodos in Under 5 Minutes
A quick walkthrough of how to create your first shared list, invite a partner, and start collaborating in real-time.
twodos is built around one idea: shared lists should just work. No complicated setup, no accounts for both people before you can share anything, no learning curve. Here's the 5-minute version.
Step 1: Create an account
Download the twodos app on Android, macOS, or Windows. Sign up with your email address — no subscription required, it's free.
You'll receive a verification email. Click the link, and you're in.
Step 2: Create your first list
Tap the "+" button on the home screen and give your list a name. "Groceries" is a good start, but call it whatever you like. Lists can be for anything: home repairs, trip planning, errands, shared reading lists.
Step 3: Add some items
Type items into the list. You can assign a deadline to any item — useful for things that need to be done by a specific day. Items can be rearranged by drag-and-drop, and you check them off as they get done.
Step 4: Invite your partner
Tap the share icon on any list and enter your partner's email address. They'll receive an invite. Once they accept, the list is live for both of you — any changes either person makes appear in real-time on the other person's device.
Your partner doesn't need to have an account yet. They'll be prompted to create one when they accept the invite.
Step 5: Use it like a messaging thread, not a weekly review
The biggest mistake new users make is treating the app like a formal project tool — carefully curated lists, weekly check-ins, structured categories. That's not how it works best.
Use it the way you'd send a text: the moment you think of something, add it. That impulse to text "we're out of olive oil" becomes an item on the Groceries list instead. Over time, both people start doing this automatically, and the list becomes a live representation of what both people are thinking about.
That's the whole app. Simple by design.
